Railway Industry Track Components

Our UK based customer provides fully integrated solutions for industrial fastener requirements with a specialisation in the railway industry. The customer won a tender to procure and supply a number of components for a project in Chile. The customer in turn send out RFQ, which Asco won.

The items sourced included:

Diamond Head bolts, between M20x100 and M20x180, Chemical Black

M20 Nuts

Spring 24 x 70mm

Bespoke connecting plates

M24 Double coil spring washers

All these items came with a set requirements for material, finishing, dimensional, packing and testing certification.

Given the size of the project, the timescales and specialisation required, the sourcing was split between China and India. For items to be procured from China, three factories were accessed personally. Production started pending end customer sample approval.

Once the technical aspects were overcome, there was a battle to ensure that the documentation was correct to satisfy the rigorous Chilean custom requirements, as Asco arranged the logistics of sending goods from India and China to Chile.
